EBFAM is a world-wide charity that has been set up to address the perceived lack in alternative healthcare (AH) of two major components of the orthodox health care system; The first is a funding system for AH out of pocket expenses and the second is an AH equivalent to orthodox intensive care facilities.
EBFAM intends to set up a fund to make grants to financially disadvantaged people seeking alternative forms of healthcare. There is currently a comparative lack of choice for disadvantaged people in state funded systems because AH is only available to those who can afford it.
EBFAM will design, build and run the world's first natural health care hospital where clients can recover from serious illness that requires a period of intensive treatment. Broadly speaking, the GP health practice has its equivalent in AH clinics which offer natural health treatments and the pharmacies have their AH equivalent in the health food shop, but the hospitals have no comparable institutions in the natural treatments arena.
The new 'centre of excellence' that is envisaged will be a model for future development and a place where evidence based medicine can truly prosper. Practitioners of different disciplines will be able to watch each other work and exchange ideas with their peers, and so educate themselves in new skills.
