Grants are available from EBFAM on an ongoing basis for people seeking treatments from group one AH practitioners. Money will be limited for these grants to 20% of all funds raised by EBFAM, but there will be no upper limit for any individual grant authorized by the trustees.
In considering a request for a grant to an individual for healthcare treatment, due consideration will be given to, inter alia, the following where applicable:
- The chronicity of the illness. Applicants who have suffered a longer time without finding relief will, to the extent that they can document this, be given precedence.
- The financial status of the individual. In the UK, copies of P60 forms will be requested; in other EU countries similar documentation or the previous 3 months salary records will suffice. Low income applicants with many dependents will be given precedence.
- The likely overall expense of the treatment applied for. Costlier treatments will be given more weight in the assessment than less costly ones.
- The applicant's age. Younger applicants will have precedence over older ones.
Only applications supported by documentation from the practitioner proposing to treat the applicant will be considered. This documentation must show that the practitioner is practicing a group one therapy, has been properly registered with a bona fide group one practitioner organization, has valid public indemnity insurance (pdf) from that organization, and has been practicing for at least three years. They will also need to provide an estimate of the cost of each treatment, the likely length of the required course of treatment, and finally they should make a brief statement about the need and likely benefit of the treatment for the individual concerned.
The decision of the trustees about whether to authorize a grant to an individual is final and irrevocable, however repeat applications are allowed since many grant applications may be refused simply because there are not enough funds to cover them. The trustees have determined that no grant will be allotted until the total donations to EBFAM reach £5000.
